The Anticancer actions of Trifolium pratense (Red Clover) by Joseph J Collins, RN, ND
Trifolium pratense has an isoflavone called biochanin A that has anticancer properties against MCF-7 breast carcinoma cells [1]. Red clover extracts acts like an estrogen antagonist [2], and prevents estradiol from stimulating breast cancer cells, while at the same time decreasing vasomotor symptoms such as hot flashes and night sweats. The plant extracts from red clover decrease cell proliferation and increase apoptosis of various cancer cell lines including cancers of the colon, prostate, breast, cervix, liver, pancreas, stomach and ovaries [3].
